When agricultural commodity value isn’t shared fairly across global supply chains, many producers, especially smallholder farmers, can’t cover basic living costs.

A living income is the net annual income required for a household to meet essential needs as well as support a decent and stable standard of living. Precise estimates of living income benchmarks vary according to variable local economic conditions, but the role of fair pricing for agricultural commodities in alleviating rural poverty is globally recognised.
